Dear TY students:
Over the mid-term break I will be representing our school on a trip to Beijing, CHINA.Part of the week involves visiting 2 top secondary schools there. The trip organiser, Chang, has asked for our students to submit some work as a ‘gift’ to both schools. I know N. Odhran and Oliver don’t do the module in Mandarin Chinese until after Christmas but I didn’t want to leave you out if you’d like to contribute to my trip!!!The organisers have asked for something “inexpensive yet meaningful…that could represent the culture of Ireland”. SO, I thought one idea could be to produce a bound set of A4 pages where you write/type – in English! – with pictures/photos/colour your response to the theme:
“What’s great about Ireland”
You could state your name, age, where you live in Ireland and then list/describe one or more things that you feel are wonderful about Ireland/ being Irish/ about Donegal/ being from Donegal – whatever: (instruments/ local bands/dancing/Gaelic sports – your involvement/ great places to visit and why/ drama/ describe our landscape/ things to do here etc.)I’ll need well presented, spell checked A4 pages by this Wednesday to allow the office time to ‘bind’ the set as a booklet of reactions. I feel the theme gives a modern overview of Ireland from young people. I’d appreciate one person in the class collecting and getting me the work by Wed. (I do registration in 104 or leave ‘set’ in the staffroom for my attention)I’m sorry it’s short notice but I was only informed on Friday last.
So, I’d love to include you in my preparations and presentation once there,
Thank you in advance,
Miss M. Corless
